My mother picks at hairs on her face, then, sores came out on her face, now she is picking her face all the time and the sores are getting worse. She has always been a controlling person. She is urinating and has diahrrea and acts like she did not even know it. She like to sleep until 1pm or 2pm, so she is hard to get to the doctor's office. And all she does is sleep and eat, she doesn't want to take a bath. My father is four years older than her, he helps all he can, but he is forgetting a lot now. He will go out and occassionally forget how to get home.
We have someone to help out a few hours 5 days a week...my parents do not want to leave their home.
So what would cause my mother to pick at her face all the time
It sounds like your dad has early stage dementia -- is that corrrect? What are your mother's impairments that she has no interest in normal activities? What kind of help comes in a few hours a day? For example, is there a bath aide to help mom with that task?
The face sores are the immediate need. But then it sounds like more or different help might be needed at home.
Hugs to you. You have a lot to deal with.
Sounds like you have your hands full with both mom and dad.... let us know how things turn out if she will consent to go to the Dr...
