Has anyone dealt with this? My husband suffers from this in his fingers. He was getting injections but has now become allergic to that. He is allergic to many topical products as well. The only product he can now bathe with is called Vanicream for both shampoo, body and facial cleanser.
He has seen hand specialists but since the last bad allergic reaction to the most recent injection has stopped that. One of my daughters is questioning stem cell as a possible remedy. I was just wondering if anyone on here has any opinion at all for any even slight anything to help with this ailment.
It didn’t work. Had to have surgery. 🙁
My ortho surgeon warned some people have allergic reactions.
Are these shots that go directly into his affected joints?
What type of doctor was administering those shots?
Did he ever try cortisone?
Stem cell therapy, as in PRP (Platlet Rich Plasma) shots? I had it in my knee and it did nothing but lighten my bank account since it is not covered by Medicare (2 years ago it was $900 per shot/per knee) but could be different now. PRP has about a 74% success rate -- and knowing about how medtech works, that rate is probably much lower in reality.
Our oldest daughter (43) is wondering about the possibility of stem cell. He is having pacemaker surgery on the 29th of this month so nothing will be done before that. I was asking the question because I wondered if anyone has a suggestion other than the treatment I mentioned and the conditions he has.
So is the problem his arthritis? Or his new skin allergy to cleansing products?
As far as I'm aware there is not much to be done for arthritis in your hands. I have base joint arthritis (the joint below the thumb towards the wrist) and had cortisone shots that did nothing. There is a surgery for this location but I know someone who had it and now it has to be redone.
How old is your husband? It is possible his skin is "aging" and just becoming more sensitive and not as a result from the shots?
More info would be helpful.
