I'm 75 years old and need to get a job to help pay for my husband's memory care.  My husband has been in memory care for almost two years and is doing well. However, because of increased costs of care, medicines, etc and no increase in income, it is necessary for me to find a job to supplement our income. I am healthy and can work as long as I don't have to do a lot of walking or standing. Where can I go to find help in getting a job?

I was thinking the same thing as Garden Artist about being a receptionist. One company I use to work for the Receptionist were senior citizens... in fact one lady is still there and she is now 85 years old. It was part-time work, job shared, so it worked out great for everyone involved. This company gave them pro-rate profit sharing, pro-rate life insurance, pro-rated vacation and sick days.

Frisco, why not use your age to your advantage? Contact Senior Centers; they might need some part-time help. Contact charities; they might need some help processing donations.

Check with local libraries; they sometimes have workshops and often have lists of jobs and can help guide you in online searches if you need that.

Perhaps you could be a receptionist at IL, AL, rehab or other facilities. Use that knowledge and maturity you've gained as an older to help you!

I'm assuming though that you haven't a broad working background. If you do have one, can you think of a way that you can get back in that field? Part-time work could be a starter that could lead to full time employment.

You could get a job cleaning tables at a fast food joint, but you would have to have a note from your MD or pass a physical. Most places insist you still have your driver's license.
