My wife has been caring for me for the past five years. I became disabled in December 2009. For two years I was able to do laundry, hanging clothes to dry outside, food shopping, cooking, dressing, bathing and run my business. Then her help was not really needed but on a part time basis.

Since March of 2014, my situation has manifested, needing help 24/7. Dressing, bathing, shopping, cooking, etc. etc. Have been searching for a support group of like minded (DAV) souls. It's frustrating....

Find Care & Housing
Have you contacted the DAV chapters in your area? American Legion? VFW? If no luck with them, perhaps you could contact the national HQs. I assume that if you're near a base you've contacted it as well?

lees - I also found assistance right at my local Veteran's Clinic. They have a counselor on-site that can help you figure out what resources your eligible for,,,,and they had one of their main volunteers call me to see what they could help my father with. Very convenient.

If you can't find one, there's a possibility you could start one yourself. A local base, the VA, one of the service organizations, or even the different branch outreach, post-service organizations might be able to help with this.
