I am caring for both 2 elderly parents (1 living with me, and one in a nursing facility) and 3 young kids - and I'm trying to determine if there're any programs out there to assist by way of $ compensation. I'm drowning in bills, and on reduced income. The problem is, I make *somewhat* of a decent salary, but debits are still outweighing credits, and getting a part time job will only exhaust me further, and I have to be home at night with the kids anyway, so, I'm looking for supportive programs for adults like me that are stuck between a rock and a tough place. Suggestions?
If your parents are not on Medicaid, do they have sufficient resources to pay you? If they can, that is a perfectly valid arrangement. The parent living with you should be paying you at least for room and board and possibly for care. Is this happening? There should be a written agreement in place to make it clear that this money is for payment, and is not a gift.
