Based on your preferences, we provide you with information about one or more of our contracted senior living providers ("Participating Communities") and provide your Senior Living Care Information to Participating Communities. The Participating Communities may contact you directly regarding their services. APFM does not endorse or recommend any provider. It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.
V. Complaints. Please contact our Family Feedback Line at (866) 584-7340 or ConsumerFeedback@aplaceformom.com to report any complaint. Consumers have many avenues to address a dispute with any referral service company, including the right to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office at: Consumer Protection Division, 800 5th Avenue, Ste. 2000, Seattle, 98104 or 800-551-4636.
VI. No Waiver of Your Rights. Hubby is 93. I'm guessing because of his dementia, the only thing that is "regular" in his life if bathroom issues. He's so concerned that he'll p_e in his pants (he's wearing pull ups) and will have a bowel movement. ok, several things. 1) we're going to the gastrologist in a couple of days to see what's happening. 2) he's on meds to help bowel movements and he does get bound up 3) it's very embarrassing to him (and it'd be to me also) to need someone else to wipe me after a movement or help me pull up my pants. I'm getting frustrated because bowel movements, although come about every 3 days (and I'm ok with that) happen before and after meals. He can't help it. And God bless him, he tries to help me any way he can because I clean him up. I sometimes wish I could just tell him to p_e in his pants and leave it at that. Like I said, he's acting like this because it is the only thing left in his life that's very consistent. He even forgets that he's eaten a meal or that his clothes have been changed from day to nite and visa versa. I'm done with complaining as I don't need to clean a diaper.
08/24/16.... cheyenne, if hubby is constantly passing gas, he might be diary intolerant. Experiment with removing all dairy from his diet, except if he likes milk he can use LACTAID® brand milk which taste just like regular milk. LACTAID® also makes good tasting ice cream. Sometimes as we age, our tummy's can't handle dairy.
08/25/16.... Cheyenne, my Mom use to give Dad cottage cheese, shredded cheese, yogurt saying "a little bit won't hurt" but I know for myself as I am lactose intolerant that a little bit does cause stomach aches. Buy a small carton of LACTAID milk and experiment with that for two weeks. It usually takes two weeks to notice any change.
Another food issue is gluten, as wheat rye oats and barley can cause stomach rumblings. Try some gluten free cereal such as Chex brand. For sandwiches there is gluten free bread. The gluten free cookies are pretty good :) The large grocery stores usually will have one section of "gluten free" products. Again, worth a try for two weeks.
