Yeaterday my Momma woke up in an ill mood- chain smoked and was even crabby at a birthday party..... Found out that not only did we have a storm front coming in we also were gonna have a full moon..... I know my when I cared for an Autistic boy at a highschool his mood would change drastically with fronts comin in full moons n bad storms........ Its been a long while since she has and I didnt write down what weather was like or moon.....
As for a full moon, the birthing section of a hospital gets busier than usual with more births. Full moon also affects my cats, they go amuck.
Don't forget, in our young adults years, some of us gals would tend to get crabby once a month... that darn "curse" :0
I say to my husband ... must be a full moon. :) I'm always right.
When I was in the hospital with my first born, I was on bed rest for 5 weeks, and when the full moon hit the nursing staff increased and they were all muttering to themselves about it's a full moon.
I asked about it and they said that the ER goes nuts during full moon, more accidents, more violence, as said above...more babies being born.
We are so connected to the earth, so much a part of it and even when we don't understand it we react and respond to extreme weather changes and the moon cycle among other things.
I found when I lived by the ocean I was even more sensitive to the moon cycles, when the the tides were high and low I could tell...it definitely felt different.
Good question...great observations. :)
The suggestion that full moons require more meds for the mentally ill is fatuous, entirely without foundation, and ludicrous. Do I need to expand on this?
I have two dogs that are weather-sensitive and their behaviour changes when a storm is approaching, even hours before there is any change in barometric pressure. that is part of their defence mechanism, but human beings do not become angry unless they are angry folk, nor aggressive unless they are aggressive folk.
Gotta go now and comb my face - HOOOOOWL!
Maybe dog is responding to your discomfort at the possibility of a storm? Check hospital / police records and correlate frequency with event.
If these changes can confuse something as small as a pigeon and as large as a power grid, why would humans be immune to the same forces?
When a storm is in our mist and there are lightening strikes, it produces negative ions, which in turn makes the air smell cleaner and makes people feel better. Back when I was a kid, I remember my parents having a negative ion light [about the size of a night light] plugged into the wall... it had a similar smell of that of a lightening.
Pamstegman - are you aware of any correlation between electromagnetic disturbances and full moons? I used to be a pigeon and full moons never bothered me. However, they did disturb the lycanthrope next door.
It was once believed that the moon influenced people and made them stark, staring mad. That is why they called it lunacy and them lunatics, but the world has grown up since then and we now know there is no causation because of the phase of the moon.
Influenza, flu, was thought to be caused by the 'influence' of the stars, hence 'influenza.' There may be a dimwitted colony of elves living in a series in interconnected tunnels under the North Pole ice that still believe that, but that is only because they are out of touch with the real world. They are out of touch because tin can telephones cannot be pulled apart taut enough to keep the required length of string off the ground somewhere around Iceland.
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I like your Dad.
:) I'm sure that there are others areas that have even better storms, but Colorado is pretty intense. :)
