Mom is 90, has dementia, has pain and does not walk. She has a 24/7 caregiver at home. I don't want to take her in to the doctor's office for minor concerns but sometimes still want things checked out. What are options for in home doctor or nurses' visits ? thank you. She has Medicare and secondary insurance.
While that option would not be a solution to ongoing issues, it might get you a script for visiting nursing services on a periodic basis.
Think also about whether hospice might be an option to consider; they will usually send a doctor or nurse to do an inhome evaluation.
Medical transport ( an ambulette) is an expensive but convenient option if mom is bedbound.
This is one of those situations that makes me grateful that my mom is getting professional care in a NH. The doctor comes to her and the nurses are always there.
It also helps to get the paperwork in place if she is expected to die at home, I hope she has a DNR?
