Mom is an AZ patient . Suffered a stroke,is now in a NH. At first she cooperated with the PT's but now I've been told that she wont do any of the exercises. She halfway eats in the dining room cause she too busy looking around or fumbling with her bib etc.
She wont even "talk" to me hardly. She just acts like a knot on a log even without outside distractions. I'm afraid Medicare will cease to pay for her therphy(?) Lord knows I nor my siblings can foot that bill. Iam 61 and cannot lift her to perform daily tasks.I feel like crying. At 5pm I go back to feed her supper I dont want to go. Some encouragement please!
It sounds like mother needs to have long term care, after the rehab is over. Medicaid pays for that kind of care, for individuals who qualify for it. If mother has some money to pay for it for herself for a while, then Medicaid would take over after her money is gone.
Let the therapists do what they can to work with your mother. They are professionals and are trained to encourage cooperation. If poor Mom just can't do it, so be it.
Start now to look into long-term care for mother. It sounds like she needs it.
