My mother has dementia, she is in assisted living, she recently had a UTI. She was seen by a urologist and tested to see how her bladder was functioning. It was determined that it has lost it's elasticity and she would need a catheter. She has pulled it out 4 times. We have been searching for help and don't know where to turn.
Sitting around in wet depends is not good for a person either. It can cause skin breakdown at the least. Tena makes some higher capacity disposable briefs. But, they have to be checked & changed pretty much like you would a kid in diapers to prevent rash, etc. Your mom's AL facility can probably get them at a bulk discount rate you couldn't get from the drug store. My mom's place would drop off a giant box of them once a month for $40. I had also gotten her some cases of adhesive disposable bed pads so the bed wouldn't get wet at night. GoodNights for little kids will stick to the sheets and not come up if there is any polyester content at all. Learned that the hard way!
