I want to do something for the caregivers who take care of mom at her Assisted Living Facility, but I'm not sure what to do? Do I do something different for the nurses versus her caregivers? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My parents memory care do not allow gifts or anything to an individual person.. which I think is a good rule to avoid favoritism. They do allow bringing food or anything for all to enjoy as a group.

There is quite a bit of chatter about this every fall, you might try searching the site for past threads - the magnifying glass icon beside your avatar opens the search function, try "gifts for caregivers".

My husband had to deal with 'corruption' issues over gifts to him as a manager. The rule was 'if you can't eat it or drink it, don't take it'. A contribution to the Christmas Party fund is easy. Bigger gifts can create all sorts of problems - allegations of favouritism, jealousy in the staffing group etc. Smiles, thanks, compliments and an occasional positive comment to their boss help a lot. You can make gifts more easily after she passes and you no longer have contact with the facility.

They facility may not allow gifts or money to be given. Maybe have lunch delivered to them. Or trays of cookies, one for day shift and one for night. At Chhristmas I did a tray of cookies and pumpkin bread.
