Current Adult Foster care home (Board and Care Home) was given 30 day notice. LO is moving to new Care home in 3 weeks. Saving thousands. LO Needs a prescription from current doctor for an electric bed but her visiting doctor isn’t responding.
Note re visiting doctors: BCBS/Medicare has agencies with visiting doctors, nurses, physical therapist, social worker. Landmark is a new benefit.
The DME company suggested I pay $250 no prescription rental for one month until I can get another doctor - or buy the bed for $1900. DME company can deliver in 24 hours.
Doc’s secretary asked where was my LO moving. I gave the info and haven’t heard from the Doc or Secretary for a week. It shouldn’t take a week to send/fax a prescription. I am changing doctors/agencies once LO is moved.
I’m learning a lot from the forum and this is another challenge like respite for caregivers and patients.
There are many business opportunities for young people who have the heart and passion - studies say there are 40 million baby boomers who may need care.
Second: Google Hospital beds for free or by donation.
Third: Report the doctor thru the grievance application.
Why not keep calling the doctors office until you get a satisfactory answer? Starting over with a new doctor means starting over with the bed prescription also.
When mom needed hospice, the hospice company provided her with a hospital bed at no cost, Medicare pays for hospice care entirely.
I had no issues moving my mother from AL into Memory Care Assisted Living. Except for the backache it caused my husband and myself, she was oblivious to everything. She was wheeled into a suite that looked pretty much identical to the studio she'd had in AL. It's important for you to do all the grunt work to make her move as easy as possible.
