Based on your preferences, we provide you with information about one or more of our contracted senior living providers ("Participating Communities") and provide your Senior Living Care Information to Participating Communities. The Participating Communities may contact you directly regarding their services. APFM does not endorse or recommend any provider. It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.
V. Complaints. Please contact our Family Feedback Line at (866) 584-7340 or ConsumerFeedback@aplaceformom.com to report any complaint. Consumers have many avenues to address a dispute with any referral service company, including the right to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office at: Consumer Protection Division, 800 5th Avenue, Ste. 2000, Seattle, 98104 or 800-551-4636.
VI. No Waiver of Your Rights. We've installed a low-cost one ($40ish) in our in-laws' home, and even though they're not fans and not great with change, it's been a help. MIL (moderate Alzh) requires help with cleaning and her caregiver is there with her directing use of the bidet, which has reduced the amount of times that a shower has been required.
There's no way she would have tried/used a bidet prior to needing this level of care (NOT a fan of change) but it's actually been useful now that she requires intimate caregiving.
We've had these low-cost bidet attachments in our home for over a year, just going off of Amazon and YouTube reviews, and YouTube for installation directions.
If the elderly person you are asking for is able to do things like use a phone, a tv remote, a microwave, without assistance, I would definitely consider it. If the person can’t handle the controls they either won’t use the bidet or they will require assistance.
If you will be getting a warm water, heated bidet seat, which is the only kind I would recommend for an elderly person who already has trouble staying warm, you will need an outlet very close to the toilet. A cord stretched too far is a tripping hazard.
You’re looking at $500. to $600. for a decent seat and whatever it costs for an electrician to wire the outlet.
TheMerryCarer, my concern with a elder if one would even use a bidet if they are not familiar with it? If they grew up using one, or had lived overseas where a bidet is common, then yes get one. If you purchase a separate bidet, that means a plumber would need to set up the water pipes, drains, and tear up the floor.
Nobody installs a free standing bidet any more, the technology most used today is the toilet seat bidet. These range from extremely simple, inexpensive cold water systems to high end ones with temperature controls, heated seats and warm air dryers, deciding what is best is going to depend on your budget and sifting through reviews from other users.
