My mother had a massive stroke almost 4 years ago, that left her bedridden and right side of her body paralyzed, non verbal.
Our current issue is picking, pinching (herself, others, the sky lol) she will not allow anything on her bed - sheets, pads and will pick/ destroy any diaper.
She still enjoys eating, everything else is not interesting or rarely interesting which isn’t a new behavior. She is on a mood stabilizer and doctors say she is fine for her condition. Doesn’t matter what time of day, the behavior is the same.
I'm worried about skin damage and her mental state. Nurse friend of mine told me to use a mitt and to convince my dad to put her in a nursing home.
Anyone else have any advice?
My aunt, 93 and with dementia, has had good success with her picking by taking CBD oil. A drop or two under the tongue daily. Her situation was never as severe as your moms sounds. It’s done amazing things for others. All anecdotal but if it works for her that’s all that matters.
