In 2013 my aunt briefly showed me her will, POA, etc. that was dated 2006. I only glanced at top page which I think may have been the will. I now need to know who the POA is. My aunt told me she would keep this stuff in her little box under her bed. Last Oct. (2016) my aunt was hospitalized while an estranged neighbor was helping me keep tabs on her while I was absent. When I returned, the hospital felt she needed 24-hour care, not the 3 days weekly I had been doing. I went to get the papers to find our who the POA was and the box was missing. I moved in with her, but she went downhill and I couldn't do transfers so I placed her in a group home. She is now out of money except her S.S. so I need to sell her little condo to cover her care. I still don't know who the POA is. Her lawyer isn't saying. Why can't her lawyer tell me? Am I even suppose to be signing for her stay at the group home. I was applying for ALTCS in meantime, but I don't know if I can do this either. I do have medical POA which she and I did in 2015 when she went to ER. HELP
At this point it seems best to appoint someone else, someone willing and able to handle the responsibilities. It could be you but it could be anyone else she knows and trusts. If she can't even remember who she originally named it can't be all that critical to her, can it?
