My 82-year-old mother needs placement. I have her on Medicare/ Medicaid(as advised). She was on home care and they really could not help me so I switched providers and she is now in Hospice but I don't think she will qualify in the future because she is physically healthy and doing very well. I have asked the case mgr to please help me find a place from mom. It has been over a month and there have been no open doors. I'm told there are no beds or she does not qualify.  She has a small pension and her SS. I really need a place for mom. I am not interested in a home type stay but something like nursing home or memory support / assisted living.  It was suggested that maybe they're really not trying to place her.

I would call the local Area Agency on Aging for a needs assessment.

Is her case manager from Hospice?

Veronica, most AL, SNF and Memory Care homes in my town have senior resource booklets that have agencies listed to help you find mom the most appropriate facility. If she is doing well with dementia being her biggest challenge there are Assisted Living homes where she can live, as long as she doesn't wander away or have any behavior issues (ie physical violence).

Your local area on aging can also direct you to a resource for care homes, where i live it is a free service that the facility pays a commission for the referral.

Good luck on your search.
