How can I do this alone, where do I begin? Pleasee give me advice, I can prob get 12,000 for this then can pay those cards almost off, do I get 1 card at 0% & put them on that from discover, personal loan? I only get SS, how can I move 2500 miles to be healthier (as I was, when I was there Christmas 2 Mos,) with no help, do I sell, leave everything, pay someone to come take it all out begin over, what can I do?

My suggestion is to find an auction house who will come in and give you a price for your stuff. Only take with you what u will need. Like kitchen stuff and those two tables. Donate to thrift shops. In Fla there are consignment shops. You can get nice stuff cheap. Maybe daughter can get u the basics to start u off with.

When it comes to hospital bills you may want to consolidate them if not from one place. That way they are paid off and then you pay off the loan with one payment.

As suggested your Office of Aging maybe able to help.

Annemac, I read your profile and you've had more of the lion's share of health issues. I think moving to a warmer climate and more senior-friendly state to be near your daughter is a good plan. Your debt and the actual moving logistics are whole other issues. And then there's covid and your underlying health issues.

As 97yroldmom suggested your local area's Agency on Aging may have resources for free debt counseling. In order to talk to debt counselor you will need to have all the most recent info on hand and know exactly where you stand so you can answer questions and present the info in an understandable way.

You can also call up churches local to you and see if they have a Care Ministry. You don't need to be a member to get help. That's what my little church does. They can help you with short-term projects like getting your paperwork in order, packing, etc. Personally, I would start with solving my financial problems before moving. It may be that you'll need to claim bankruptcy to get out of debt, but there are possible consequences to that move. Beware of bankruptcy "specialists"... they took my MIL to the cleaners (she paid the attorney in jewelry and other non-cash items -- very sketchy!)

You have much on your plate so eat the elephant one bite at a time. Covid has made many peoples' lives so much more complicated right now. I wish you succes in sorting through things and finding a smart starting point. May you have peace in your heart and better health in your future!

Here is a link for the NY Area Agency on Aging.
See if they are able to come assess you for needs and which services they might offer that would help you sort this out.
