Mom is in late stage alzheimers and freaked out in the middle of her last visit, causing them to not be able to do xrays and complete a filling. What can I do to help get her care when she needs it? She is on seroquel to help her sleep which will keep them from using valium or other sedatives to help.
My near 94 year old mom was facing replacing two crowns without novacaine and I was sweating how she was going to get through it now with dementia
After spending 20 minutes thoroughly examining her - the dentist said the X-rays looked worst than what he found and her current crowns could probably hold a few more years - fingers crossed they do
With your mom, would it be possible to give her half of her normal seroquel dosage before the appointment ?
I'd ask her doctor and dentist about it. Also, discuss Palliative Dental care. That's what we did. Just enough to keep her comfortable.
