There are so many providers and they all want as much private information as possible. Financial information, social security numbers and bank accounts.. Is this normal?

You shouldn’t have to give personal information in the very beginning of your research. Who are you speaking with?

It's normal for most providers to ask even though they really don't need to have it for a care contract. Nursing homes and AL's always insist on it as they believe they are entitled to every cent a person has ever had.
None of it has to be given out to get services if they are being privately paid for. If someone is getting their homecare services or nursing home bill paid by the state (Medicaid) in any way then it is the state who requires all this information. It does not have to be given to any other entity.
