Find Care & Housing
In my experience while it varies greatly, depending on if the person is still able to urinate to remove the fluid the dialysis procedure removes as well as the person's intake,  on average,  2-3 weeks. I have seen some patients pass away in days after choosing to stop and those who have survived a month or two. Each situation is very unique. People on dialysis usually have many other medical conditions in addition to renal failure that contribute to their death. Along with the toxic buildup in their blood often their heart can't pump the extra fluid not being removed by the dialysis process.
Please get Hospice involved if your LO is considering this.
