Then go to the Texas social security office and ask them what their benefits and requirements are for you. Each state has different benefits.

In Texas if you qualify for SSI you also qualify for Medicaid. You should contact your local social security office in Texas.

TX is going to require documentation to show you are a resident of the state. TX drivers license or state ID issued - both issued by TxDPS, so check to see what you need to bring in for the application. TxDPS is pretty strict in that they have to see all the documents required are ORIGINALS or certified copy too. Local bank account with local address. Register to vote at the new TX address too.

If they own any real property in the old state - like land, home or a car - those will not be an exempt asset for Texas Medicaid. The car - that is an easy registration to do & this you also do a TxDPS so try to do them both at the same time. The house & land will have to be sold with proceeds used for spend down. All real property is recorded by the states, so it will show up eventually and be a problem for Medicaid. I'd be up front on all this if you have to do any paperwork or answer any ? on this too as the penalties are daunting. Good luck in the move.
