Has your mom ever applied for Medicaid? You need respite care for HER right? So you can take care of yourself. She may be eligible for Medicaid ans respite care through Medicaid. Have you contacted your area on aging? They will have information about every program in your area and they can help you with respite and additional home care for your mom. Maybe it is time for mom to go to assisted living?

If you are sick, you must put yourself first otherwise you will outlive your mom and then what?

If your Mom was married, was her husband a veteran? If so, she may also be eligible for Aid and Attendance benefits.

This will take too long. She needs the surgery now.

Was your doctor made aware of the problem. Maybe Office of Aging or APS. You need this operation.

Luckily this type of surgery is often done via laproscopy, and most patients can go home in a day or two,, so don't panic unless you have been told something else. So you may be able to just get some help for a day or so. For much less than an inpatient stay for respite. Although I do understand why you may want a longer break! Do you have a friend or relative who could help out for a few days? Good luck!
