My mom got covid back in November. She only had mild symptoms. She says that because she has already had it, she can't get it again because she is immune to it (I'm not so sure I believe that). She is not practicing social distancing or anything and I'm worried sick that she's going to get it again and die from it this time. I love my mom so much and losing her would tear me apart!
What the 'experts' know is less than what they DON'T know about this virus.
Saying that we still need to wear masks, and now preferably TWO masks, and social distance for the entirety of 2021 even AFTER being vaccinated tells me that your mother is mistaken in her thought process. And if not, who knows? That's the risk she's taking with her thought process.
But then again, in her defense, it's HER life to live as SHE sees fit.
Wearing 2 masks and staying cloistered in one's home for 2 years is not really 'living' anyway, so whatever your mother chooses to do with her life is her prerogative.
Good luck!
Just that fact should cause her to take safety measures. Because it is a different strain she could get it again.
Even if she can or could not get it again the reason for HER to take precautions is she needs to protect others that are not immune. While she might not be able to get the same strain again that does not mean she can not GIVE it to someone else. And she could get another strain of the virus.
So tell her if she loves you and your family she will take precautions for YOU if not for herself.
