I'm new to the area and have exhausted my money for cellphone minutes and transportation. I was lived with friends in the area. Then, I moved to Sunpointe Apts. (2727 N. Oracle Apts.). My job and living space opportunities evaporated unexpectedly. Though I have food to the end of the month, I'm broke till my next SSI check comes on 1/2-1/3 And I'm very low on cellphone minutes till then. (see above)

Not sure what any of us can help you with. You might try contacting the charities and churches in Tucson to see if there might be some short term assistance there. SunTran has economy fares you could probably qualify for. I believe those apartments accept Section 8 payments, so you might apply for housing assistance that will help you in the future with your rent payments. That will allow your SS to go a little further. Ask your friends or family to give you a short term loan so that you can reload some minutes onto your phone. Maybe that can be a start. Best of luck finding a new job.

Joe, contact the county office of the aging in your new location. They can help.

Sounds like whoever you are caring for in independent living is better off than you are. I assume that your rent is paid for this month. I don't know what to say. Maybe someone else has an answer.

Thanks for your response. But I'm not caring for anyone. sorry for the confusion. I relocated from MN for a job here that evaporated. I'm a retired 67yr. old skilled Business Financial Analyst on a fixed income (SSI) who is broke, lives in an apt. and running out of cellphone minutes and no $ for trans.
