i owe the IRS(shhh) if i am POA for my grandma's finances, is there a chance the IRS could take money I OWE from grandma's account?
I spoke with gma's bank manager who insisted the IRS could not garnish any money owed from gma's acct because i would be managing her finances with the money, not my own. i was told that very thing happened to a family member and after i explained that to him he called his branch office manager who again, said the IRS could not & would not garnish income owed by a person listed as another's POA.
i'm still afraid of the risk. has anyone heard or know of this happening? please help!
i hear ya man!!
i do manage her money & have both her check book and ATM card in my possession because she can't be trusted with either. she made her first property tax payment(late) & started her first payment on UNPAID property taxes.
all i want to do is keep gma in her home for the rest of her life & make things as easy(on me) as possible.
