My father is 86 yrs old with Dementia.. He lives in assisted living facility. He has been soiling his underpants for the last few months and when he does this he throws them in the trash... He has used up all his underpants and we he had bought him quite a few.. I feel its now time to have him use "adult diapers".. He of course does not think he has a problem...... Should we buy him more underpants along with the Depends , or just buy the Depends? He is not going to know or understand why he has to wear something different...

Yes, I agree with vw. Simply replace his underwear with the pull-ons. Trust me, he'll feel better. My mom some time before she finally wore them, but once she did she exclaimed how wonderful it was because she could relieve herself easily.

I suggest you buy the men's Depends and place them in the drawer where he keeps his underpants now. Depends makes them more attractive now, and some pull on and off just like underwear. Just nicely tell him they're they "new" kind or style of underpants. That they're easier to use and also help with odor or any "problems". And don't buy him any more "normal" underpants. If he doesn't have any normal underpants, he will gently be forced to wear Depends. I did this with my mother-in-law, and she had no problem converting. Good luck!!
