What do I need for Medi-cal proof to go toward her High Share of Cost? I already file my 1099. I just don't know how to prove to Medi-cal/Ihss of payment she give me for this care.

Hi worrieincali,

The medi-cal office dpss, told me my care giving is not a medical deduction and can't be used toward her share of cost. She is not on IHSS (we are applying now)
. I don't think that is correct but I'm not 100 % sure? I file a 1099 ever year for what she is paying me. I understand all your points, but getting it there is what I'm having a hard time doing, what forms? what tax forms, what IHSS forms. I'am really confused and upset. It so difficult doing all by myself 24/7, I'm ill also and now that COVID19 is hear go to run an errand takes longer, I mean just pick up the essentials milk, eggs, bread you have to wait in a long line. I have to talk my mother in the car for and she waits in the car with a mask, sorry I'm going on on I'm overwhelmed

Your mother’s medi-cal eligibility worker can tell you what documentation they require. Is she on IHSS with a share of cost and you’re paid to be her caregiver? Because what she pays you can be her share of cost. You might just need an employment agreement & paystubs to show medi-cal. If your mom wants to deduct what she pays you as a medical expense, then she needs to contact a tax professional that can go over her income and decisions & determine what she can deduct if anything. Medical expenses can’t just be deducted anymore.
