We are receiving Aid & Attendance for Mom and I am her fiduciary -- approved a year ago with the home interview back in April. Just 6 days ago, we decided to move Mom from home care to a board and care near us. We called Medicare two days ago to switch her type of plan that works better with the board and care scenario. Ironically, or maybe not, the VA rep left a message for me today that he wants to do another home visit with us and Mom! Husband believes Medicare notified him we have made some changes. Really not prepared to tell VA all the changes yet -- it hasn't even been a week. It's too soon for them to go to her board and care and we haven't decided about selling her condo. We'd like five minutes to breathe -- this three weeks has been hugely stressful getting everything set up. Cannot even believe the VA rep has called to set up another interview so soon. Is it just a coincidence or did Medicare somehow notify them something changed? I don't think anything else has been changed. We are thinking to just have the home visit the same as last time -- at our home. She has always spent part of her time here so that is normal (as we explained then). Lastly, how often should we expect the VA Rep to do home visits? Next time we'd be fine for them to visit board and care....but she's only been there about two minutes. We might just explain she is in for respite because we're looking for a new caregiver. Her last caregiver giving us such little notice forced this decision so it is actually true! The VA rep was a very very nice guy -- it's just our heads are still spinning right now and we weren't expecting to be put on the spot so quickly. We don't want to make mistakes either. Thanks!
