Pam is 100 percent. I would also add all the other planetary positions and their relationship to each other and the astrological charts of the patient and the caregiver. And trust me, I'm only half kidding.

You cherish the days she is pretty clear. You help her more on the days she is confused.

My husband had Lewy Body Dementia and fluctuating cognition is a diagnostic criterion. Good hours and bad hours, good weeks and bad days ... count on variability. The one caution I offer from experience is ... don't let the good days lull you into being less attentive. Keep in mind that although Mom has been very "with it" for several days that doesn't mean she'll remain with in while you run to the store.

My mother has dementia. It is not Lewy Body Dementia, but it, too, fluctuates. We cherish the good moments and are grateful she is in a good, caring, safe place when she has to bad moments.
