She does this every once in awhile ,,I usually give her a seroquel 50mg and she goes to,sleep in 45 minutes ,,tonight she is taking non stop and arguing with neighbors that she had 50 years ago ...she was checked for a UTI 2 days ago ... and it was negative... this is how it is once in awhile ,,, I let her watch tv and get her mind off the old neighborhood ... does your elderly mother or father who has dementia do this ? I'm exhausted... she's not ughhhh ...thank you in advance for your replies
If your dad's friends don't follow you into the kitchen, "Well, I guess they just don't want to eat right now. They are welcome to come in when they are ready."
Delusions really can be hard to deal with, can't they?!
My husband took Seroquel 100 every night before bed. Without him sleeping through at least most nights I could not have kept him at home with me. With the help of various medications he made his 10-year journey entirely in our home.
If these episodes are infrequent and redirecting Mom to a television show works, perhaps you can grin an bear it. But I urge you not to let this go on too long, for your sake and ultimately for your mother's. Do discuss it with the doctor.
Lately, he keeps asking me where's the old lady (invisible person) or to feed the 3 ladies. He gets really upset when I don't feed them. I try to pretend but.. he sees them and they didn't follow me to the kitchen. =) Stymied on THAT one...
