SO I placed her in a real nice home care service. I am needing to convince her that I need power of attorney but don't think she will accept. She can't see very well either. Need your advise and what kind of attorney to call. Thank you Joan

You need to contact an attorney that is certified in elder law. If your mothers dementia is advanced she may have passed the point of being able to appoint you as her POA. The attorney could advise you.

Elder Law Attorney. Fear you will have to go to court to get appointed her guardian and her power of attorney. So sorry. It is a costly awful mess to try to do. Please, if there is a senior center near you, get their recommend. Some attorneys will act at almost cost in the benefit of some elders. Ask around everywhere you can. Stop at local churches. The home service may have information for you also. Ask everyone everywhere. Wishing you luck and hoping you will update us.

Elder Attorney, get her doctors records regarding her dementia. Sounds like she is still in your home right? If so, I might suggest that you explore your options in a MC facility, would confirm that there is a need for the POA.
