My dad’s 90, on hospice for metastatic malignant melanoma, has Alzheimer’s, RA, etc. He’s wheelchair bound, lives in an apt. with 24/7 help. He’ sleeping more, eating less, though he still is hungry, & having more pain, which is treated with morphine. He’s being treated for pinkeye right now, too. Twice yesterday he shielded his eyes from the bright light he was seeing. Outside it was actually very shady and inside it wasn’t bright, either. He’s also been talking to my mom, who passed 2 yr ago, & golfing with friends (also deceased). Is pinkeye causing the light or is dad nearer the end than we think? I’m 2 hr away and visit regularly, but would like to be with him if he’s on the edge. Any thoughts?
The talking to people that have died is also common enough in people that are towards End Of Life that I will not doubt the fact that they may actually be getting visits that are preparing them.
I think this is something that Hospice should know. This is a change in his condition that they would want to be aware of.
