My grandma is 90. She has diabetes and on dialysis, and also has Alzheimer's. For the most part she is functional, eats (asks for food), jokes sometimes, tells you when she needs to use the bathroom, likes car rides and coloring. Five days ago she fell and broke her wrist, the xrays also showed possible rib injury but the doctors were unsure. That day in the ER she was lucid but she became hypothermic and her BP went low so she was admitted. My mom says she kept telling her she was hungry and wanted to go home. That same night a nurse called bc my grandma kept calling for my mom so we spoke to her via phone. She just answered yes or no to questions. The morning after the nurse said she ate 100% breakfast but for lunch about 70%. She was supposed to be discharged Friday but she went on a deep sleep and now won't wake up. She moans as if she is in pain, I suspect her back. She doesn't want to open her eyes and when the doctor tried she pushed her away. When asked to squeeze her hand she does. Anyone else been through the same before? She hasn't eaten for 5 days now and is just on sugar liquid to keep her sugar leveled. Labs, CT scan all came back normal. The doctor said she doesnt know what is going on.
Sending you a hug and a prayer for a good resolution.
GET HER ON HOSPICE..
