Contact Medicaid for your own state, as this is a program that is joint Federal and State, and each state differs. You need a list and explanation for what is available and what qualifies your hubby in your own state. Start with the internet and move to phone numbers when needed. This can be complicated stuff, and dependent on needs you may need assistance of an elder law attorney.

You might want to hire a geriatric care manager for a couple of hours for their opinion for the best places. In some localities, Medicare beds are hard to find. You may have to apply on a wait list. Ideally he should have gone in as a private pay for a while because those residents go to the top of the list. Since he is already in a facility start by saying unsafe discharge to home.

You will also need to be educated about protecting your finances
