Based on your preferences, we provide you with information about one or more of our contracted senior living providers ("Participating Communities") and provide your Senior Living Care Information to Participating Communities. The Participating Communities may contact you directly regarding their services. APFM does not endorse or recommend any provider. It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.
V. Complaints. Please contact our Family Feedback Line at (866) 584-7340 or ConsumerFeedback@aplaceformom.com to report any complaint. Consumers have many avenues to address a dispute with any referral service company, including the right to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office at: Consumer Protection Division, 800 5th Avenue, Ste. 2000, Seattle, 98104 or 800-551-4636.
VI. No Waiver of Your Rights. My mom is very stubborn. She wears a pull up and when it is full, refuses to get up to change it. In the middle of the night she takes it off. In the morning everything is wet.
Is she still living with you at home? Your profile also says that she has dementia. Often, with dementia, the person is not capable to reason about the need to get up to go to bathroom or clean themselves. Even people who aren’t stubborn do this. The brain just doesn’t work right, so, I wouldn’t view it as something she is doing on purpose. I have read that there are protective clothing that is one piece that buttons in the back, so the wearer can’t get it off. (They are sold online at sites for people with dementia.) So, it prevents the wearer from removing it and their soiled diaper. If you know what time she has the BM, you might get her up at a certain time to clean her or try to establish a schedule, so she’ll have BM earlier and both of you don’t have to get out of bed to take care of it. I hope others will have some suggestions. It’s a difficult thing to deal with.
The general advice is to take her to the bathroom every 3 hrs and limit water intake at bedtime. It won’t stop her from wetting her pants or bed, but it will cut down on frequency.
Look for a more absorbent product. Ensure there is a full waterproof mattress protector & add an incontinence bed pad (if not already) that can be more easily changed & washed.
My sister too. Pull-ups, nightwear & incontinence bed pad all soaked by morning. Sleeps too heavy to wake.
The Continence Practice Nurse informed even the most absorbant pull-ups not enough in her case. Needed wrap around Depends type pads that had with higher level of absorbancy (2-3 litre I think).
I feel your distress. My mother has fecal incontinence too and every morning was a huge mess because she removed her briefs at night. So now I don't use briefs. I slip a very absorbent adult diaper underneath her at night over disposable chucks which whisks the urine away from her skin. In an ideal world I could wake up at 4 am but that's not an option. Also keeping her from drinking her coke at night would be reasonable but outside of locking the fridge its impossible. So that's my advice!🙏
Go to Amazon and search for "Alzheimer's anti strip suit". Dress mom in this garment for bedtime, with a night Depends and an insert for extra absorbence. She can't take the jumpsuit off, so that's your answer right there. Then search for Extrasorbs bed pads.......36" size. Disposable underpads for the bed. They will keep the bed dry.

Don't mean any harm but really they can be like a child. We have to treat them gentle.
