My elderly mother has Alzheimer's disease. She is cared for 24 hrs by a care company in her own home. This is funded by the National Health Service. Her mobility has suddenly deteriorated and we have been told to find her a place in a nursing home by Friday, otherwise the care will stop. There is no bed available in the care home we want to put her in. Can we be forced to put her somewhere where they say? They said it is unsafe for mam to stay in her own home and they cannot afford to provide two care staff. We have been told that mam lacks mental capacity. Should we say to put her in a nursing home with poor reviews because we are unable to find a nursing bed with appropriate staffing levels or good standards of care?
If you confirm that you're in the UK, I'll PM them for you. I prefer to wait until I know for sure though, as there may be other countries that have a National Health Service.
Parky a difficult situation, I hope someone comes along who can be of service to you! Perhaps your Mum can go to this facility for just a short time, until another bed opens up in a facility of your choice. Can you get her on the waiting list of these preferred facilities?
