The Participating Communities may contact you directly regarding their services. APFM does not endorse or recommend any provider. It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.
V. Complaints. Please contact our Family Feedback Line at (866) 584-7340 or ConsumerFeedback@aplaceformom.com to report any complaint. Consumers have many avenues to address a dispute with any referral service company, including the right to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office at: Consumer Protection Division, 800 5th Avenue, Ste. 2000, Seattle, 98104 or 800-551-4636.
VI. No Waiver of Your Rights. APFM does not (and may not) require or even ask consumers seeking senior housing or care services in Washington State to sign waivers of liability for losses of personal property or injury or to sign waivers of any rights established under law.I agree that: A.I authorize A Place For Mom ("APFM") to collect certain personal and contact detail information, as well as relevant health care information about me or from me about the senior family member or relative I am assisting ("Senior Living Care Information"). My mother just passed away and she had guardianship over my mentally disabled brother they both resided in Shreveport, LA and now he lives with me in Verona WI. She left no living will but before passing she asked me to take care of him.
I am very sorry for your loss, and I congratulate you for taking care of your brother. May be there is in the town Hall a social worker who can help you, or you go to the Court, where they should be able to tell you what you have to do and where. In any case, don't wait too long. I have been guardian for my husband who had Alzheimer, being just over 50 years. Here with us, everything was arranged by the Court. Go to your state's superior court where the probate division is (it might be different in your city) and file a guardianship with them. Make it urgent, and usually a waiver for court costs is available if you do not have the funds. You will need to go to social security with him and get a "Representative Payee" status for his social security benefits. Notify them ASAP. God bless you both.

Can't tell from your question if your brother is developmentally disabled or suffers from mental illness. I would Google arc Wisconsin and find a local chapter of the Arc that can help you find resources, lawyers etc. in your area that are familiar with issues for people with developmental disabilities and NAMI Wisconsin for the same set of information if you are dealing with mental illness.
So sorry for your loss. The only thing you need to do is to go to a lawyer and start the process of getting guardianship for your brother. Ask about services for him and any kind of aid, financial etc., that may be available to you and/or you brother. If your Mom left no will, look into life insurance etc. that she may have had.
