Petition filed by my evil sister for conservatorship of my mom. Hearing is less than a month away. Can't afford my own counsel. How do I go about objecting to the petition? Mom's court appointed lawyer is no help and she wants someone different, too. She asked for her usual estate planning attorney, but sister is denying access and has told her old lawyer the bill will not be paid. The court venue is Superior Court Los Angeles Central District. Are oral objections permitted at the hearing, or do I need to prepare a written response, pay filing fees, etc? I can't find court forms for this anywhere. All responses from posters with experience or knowledge of the process will be much appreciated.

Thanks Pam, that's what I'm starting to find out. So that means sis can't do anything until the hearing, right? She is of course, asking for the right to commence unlawful detainer action against me and will probably seek a stay away order, too. I still have some things (as do all my siblngs) on mom's property. She claims that's stopping mom from getting care in her home! Just another way for sis to avoid getting mom into AL or NH and neglect mom's care. She's hitting her aides now and throwing them out one after another. Hallucinations are getting a lot worse, too. Sis won't act. Mom's court appointed lawyer isn't very helpful, and mom told him she didn't want him and refused to talk to him the other day. Time to hire an attorney for myself.

You get a lawyer and he does the footwork for you. No other way. I have not seen or heard of anyone without a lawyer winning in probate court.
Sister is not in control right now, the court appointed lawyer is who represents mom at the hearing, no one else.
