What are my options in Delaware, with Aetna/Medicare? She's been crying ever since they moved her there this afternoon from the hospital. She has diabetes and possibly hospital acquired delirium, and likely dementia as well. Any advice would be most appreciated, thank you!
As Jeanne says, Gram's upset may not be so much about the place she's in as her mental state. What is she in rehab for? Does she understand why she's there?
My mother became agitated and tried to grab the steering wheel out of my husband's hands as we transported her from rehab to a wonderful, lovely elegant Assisted Living facility. I really have no idea what she thought was happening, but she was not thinking rationally. Paranoia from dementia had set in.
Reassure Gran that she's in rehab place to get stronger and better. If her agitation continues, consult with the doctors and nurses about the best way to handle the situation.
I am curious, too, as Barb is above. Why is this place so awful? Or is the place old looking and not cheery decor? My Dad was in a place like that, but don't judge a book by its cover, Dad got wonderful care and the food was excellent.
It is so kind of you to look out for your Gran's best interests. I'm not sure that will as easy as changing locations.
