I take care of my mom. She lives right smack us. She is completely dependent and wheelchair bound. Her overall health is goods so this is more of a future question to help me have a plan in place. First I should explain that when I was 20 I was home from college and when I got up one morning dad was dead on the bathroom floor when I walked in. He had had a stroke in the middle of the night and we didn't know until morning. So saying that, every morning when I go to get mom up I worry I may find her dead. She has had a brain tumor and whole brain radiation so a stoke is very likely. Anyway, I panic thinking about it although I would rather her die at home than in a nursing home somewhere. Anyway, who do you contact when this happens? Do you call 911? The coroner? I think having a plan in place will help me not worry about the future as much. I really hate this responsibility.
You should pre-plan with the help of a funeral director nearby the home. Our local funeral home did not charge for this.
I compliment you on having the courage to ask so that you can be prepared.
