How do we find people who will come in to give my father a walk or take him to the doctor? We don't need full-time care for him, just someone to check in on him daily, get him some exercise, and check that he's doing well at the board and care home. Probably an hour a day. Are there services that provide this?

Most in-home care agencies will work blocks of time. You just set up what you want. Look for an agency that is part of a well-known chain such as Home Instead or Comfort Keepers or a local agency that has a good reputation. Either way, ask for references. Your dad's needs shouldn't be hard to meet with an honest conversation with the agency or caregiver involved.
Good luck,
Carol

Check your cities Area of Agency and Disabilities. They have all sorts of resources for the Elderly and Disabled. And it's a service that is based on income level of the elderly that needs it.

I agree with everyone that a in-home caregiver is what you need and you even got some good suggestions on where to find an agency. However, there's usually a 2-hour minimum.
