She moved to a memory care facility and now has a much smaller room than her previous assisted living apartment. I paid for the movers etc. but am worried about what to do with the rest of her things.

Find Care & Housing
Pam, are you assuming that your mother will not be returning to her home, or to AL? If so, do you want the furniture itself? Does your mother have a will or trust providing that her furniture and other household possessions will be distributed among her heirs?

If you're the sole heir, I think you could consider selling the furniture rather than storing it and paying storage costs, unless you want the furniture yourself or it has sentimental meaning, which I suspect is the case.

Are you talking about expensive antiques or custom made furniture? If not then I agree with Garden Artist. Paying for a storage facility often costs more than old furniture is worth. Sounds like your mom is downsizing to more manageable surroundings and it's an opportunity to declutter. Good luck!
