Mom is a 68 year old stroke survivor who lives with us. She has vision impairment, too, and doesn't drive or go outside alone, even. I prefer that she not use the stove. With much preparation and planning, she could probably stay in our home for a week on her own if we wanted to take a vacation / break. But we'd kind of like to have our home to ourselves for more than a day or two when a traveling aunt invites Mom over when she happens to be in town.
Is respite available for someone who isn't bed-ridden? Can anyone share their experiences?
I have heard that some assisted living places allow people traveling - like visiting relatives - to stay for a weekend. Maybe I can find something like that.
