My mother is in a nursing home and is being cared for by my brother who has not given us any information about our mothers health. He has set up "no contact" for us and will not answer phone calls or e-mails. We recently found out thru other relatives that mother had a stroke and was moved to a nursing home. My sister has power of attorney and all three of us have Medical Power of Attorney.
As cmagnum says, you need to show up in person, with your documentation. If it is some distance and there will be a delay getting there, send a letter explaining who holds the POAs.
BUT ... if mother has given POA to your brother and that document is dated later than your, he may indeed be within his authority.
How in the heck did this happen? How long has your mother been in a nursing home?
Bring your legal papers to NH and find out what's going on... You'll have to do it during M-F day working hours...No one is usually there on the weekends in the business office..
Good luck...
