My Mom almost didn't make it. My older sister and I know this is about my 2 middle sisters Stealing my Mom's money, to the point they are vindictive, and deceiving, it's really deep they also are stating my Mom has sign's of dementia in which I'm sure she does, but this here stress is killing her. I'm also going to contact the Social Security Administration and my Mom's Retirement to do an internal investigation, I just have to wait because, I don't want them mentally abusing my Mom anymore. My sisters did the same thing to my Dad, 7 days after our Dad passed she had my Mom sign the new POA papers, (or so it looks that way in the hospital), this is all during the time when my Dad had passed away on 7/21, my Mom was there when my Dad passed, this made her even more depressed. She than went to serve my older sister through e-mail the new POA papers is this legal? I've considered Adult protection services, but they are not allowed to go to nursing homes, or hospitals, there are "no words" to what my older sister and I am feeling. I'm the youngest of 6 siblings (1 oldest brother deceased) and it's the 2 middle sisters who are doing all the conspiring, it's to the point where the point of contact is only those 2 and the only reason they found out my Mom has more sibling's is when I call to find out where she is, either in different hospital or temporary rehabilitation nursing home. I've spoken with a Lawyer and it would cost a lot of money to fight this. I even have recordings my Mom has done in which I'm sending it to the Attorney who has her Will and Original POA). I just want Peace for my Mom, and I know my 2 middle sisters will "Reap what they Sow".
If the date on the POA is during the time that your Mom was in the hospital, search for the Notary and ask him/her if they were in fact at the hospital and that the Notary had witnessed everyone signing. Plus the person who is now the new POA would also needed to have been there to sign and her signature witnessed.
I really wonder if this really had happened the way it did... I know the hospital where I do volunteer work wouldn't have allowed that many people into a patient's room if a patient was that sick.
When the time comes that your Mom needs to apply for Medicaid, a 5 year look back will be done on the finances. At that time, Medicaid could notice that the money wasn't going to your Mom.
Hope you can get everything straighten out.
