The Participating Communities may contact you directly regarding their services. APFM does not endorse or recommend any provider. It is your sole responsibility to select the appropriate care for yourself or your loved one. We work with both you and the Participating Communities in your search. We do not permit our Advisors to have an ownership interest in Participating Communities.
II. How We Are Paid. We do not charge you any fee – we are paid by the Participating Communities. Some Participating Communities pay us a percentage of the first month's standard rate for the rent and care services you select. We invoice these fees after the senior moves in.
III. When We Tour. APFM tours certain Participating Communities in Washington (typically more in metropolitan areas than in rural areas.) During the 12 month period prior to December 31, 2017, we toured 86.2% of Participating Communities with capacity for 20 or more residents.
IV. No Obligation or Commitment. You have no obligation to use or to continue to use our services. Because you pay no fee to us, you will never need to ask for a refund.
V. Complaints. Please contact our Family Feedback Line at (866) 584-7340 or ConsumerFeedback@aplaceformom.com to report any complaint. Consumers have many avenues to address a dispute with any referral service company, including the right to file a complaint with the Attorney General's office at: Consumer Protection Division, 800 5th Avenue, Ste. 2000, Seattle, 98104 or 800-551-4636.
VI. No Waiver of Your Rights. I wanted to speak with one concerning my husband and his eventual placement somewhere? I depend on my husband's ss to pay some of our household bills. Would I have to give up his monthly ss if he went into a facility. His ss is $1200.00 monthly.
Before you consider consulting an attorney, you might want to address the first issue, which is that of allocating funds for home vs. a facility.
As to an attorney's charge, though, it depends on the age and experience of the attorney, her/his practice area, your geographic location, size of law firm.
Are you asking if your husband's SS would go entirely toward payment of facility costs if he were to move there? Do the two of you have any other financial assets? Have you applied for Medicaid? Do you get SS?
Leeda, the first thing you need to address is reduction of your living expenses so you can pay your debts as well as reserve funds for the future of both of you.
I don't know who you're referring to that would "allow" or not allow you to allocate funds. It helps to answer questions of posters so you can get appropriate answers, which I why I asked if your concern is reallocation of funds to a place where your husband might live in lieu of at your home.
However, with a pension of $3K, I think what might help is some financial counseling to reallocate funds from living expenses to debt payment.
Leeda23, you are entitled to a household allowance. Figure out what you need for rent, utilities, food and medicine. Things like hair color and manicures don't count. Vacations, no. Money gifts to the kids-not allowed.
We have three credit cards that we are paying on. I cannot afford to pay these bills by myself. Will I be allowed to put my husband's ss toward paying down these bills? I have a private pension of $3,000 a month plus $ 62.00 a month ss. We have no assets- do not own a home or car but our living expenses are high.
HNW: are you Handler or Niemann? and is that the right firm? If so, you might want to do the legal thing and read the TOS, which prohibits advertising.
Even if Handler Niemann isn't your firm, the ban on advertising still applies.
