I am right there with you. My problem is telling dad about the AL Alzheimer's Facility that my wife and I found 7 miles from our home. Dad was diagnosed with AD in 2008 and it's gotten progressively worse. He currently lives 2 doors down from us and we provide meals, deliver his meds, do the shopping, handle his bills, etc.. However, last Friday he went on a delusional tirade asking about "where his bag of diamonds was, and he needed to buy those houses that were sold, and who was that heavy set man that killed those three people?" I was shocked. And I've seen a lot from him as the disease has taken hold of his mind. It's one of the saddest things to see such a sharp, witty mind deteriorate into a paranoid, anxious mess. Dad has always sad no to outside care and before he got so bad he had talked about going into an assisted living center. But the last few years he has been resistant to everything suggested: rides, trips out-of-town, help coming in, etc.. I have signed him up and will take him to the facility after his doctor's visit next Tuesday. I am really not sure what to expect except resistance. I pray that there will be Divine intervention and dad will go peacefully.
