Anyone know if theres a waiting list for long term care services on medicaid in say Arlington area of Virginia? Also, any information on a family member being paid as a caregiver would be helpful also. And day centers that accept people with incontinence. I reached out to aging and disability services and they were unwilling to give me in depth information. I understand the program in our current state pretty well and may have asked too many specific questions. The lady i spoke with seemed annoyed. Any and all information is greatly appreciated.
I found a couple of places from the guide book that take Medicaid, one is ManorCare Health Services which is in Alexandria, next city over from Arlington. The group has another location in Fair Oaks in Fairfax, Virginia [also northern Va]. The third is Fairfax Rehab & Nursing Home in Fairfax. As for a waiting list, you would need to call them directly.
There is a place called Heritage Hall out in historic Leesburg Virginia. Their website talks about Medicaid, so give them a call. The building was built decades ago, but the Staff is excellent. My Dad had stayed there for rehab and he liked being there. He enjoyed the meals :)
As for at home care by a relative, you would need to contact the Commonwealth of Virginia's Medicaid office. Each State is different. Not many States offer a relative caregiver a salary. According to Medicaid, it is less expensive for the taxpayers to pay for an elder to be in a nursing home than to pay 3-shifts of caregiving at home.
I'm not sure what to make of the people you inquired from. Sounds odd.
