There is a no-rinse shampoo/body wash that works O.K. but I bought a plastic cover that stretches over whole bed (from Walmart) and just take a plastic pan of warm soapy water and another pan of warm clean rinse water. Cover her with a bath towel and wash legs, then rinse and dry, wash torso and rinse and dry. Have her turn over and repeat process on back side. Then give her clean soapy washcloth and let her wash her face, and ears. I bought some rinse free shampoo caps that work well. Just pop in microwave a few seconds to warm then put on head and massage hair thoroughly, take cap off and dry and comb hair. Whole process, bath and shampoo only takes 15 or 20 minutes.
I live by myself and the bath tub is small and difficult to enter and exit. It would be dangerous, even if somebody would help. I use since years wipes. Expensive but large and impregnated with beneficial elements. Largest available 13x12 inches: HERO Full Body Wipes. I order them from Amazon.

Hospice used disposable bathing wipes to clean my brother. I had a bad leg injury that kept me out of a shower for several months. I found Bathing Wipes by Nurture Valley online. They have aloe Vera, vitamin E and came extract. Latex, landline and alcohol free. They worked great.
Use the soap and water that worked for her in the past. Make up two hot water basins with separate wash cloths. Pat her skin with the cloth. Do not rub. Wash and then rinse a section at a time. The important part is using a quality lotion or oil as skin protectant.
You might want to include - before or after, a gentle soothing massage. If she is apprehensive about bathing, perhaps a massage before would relax her.
mjbacheminjr427: Set up a small tub of warm water and bring it to your mother's bedside. Obtain a body wash for sensitive skin, e.g. Cetaphil (expensive, but you may be able to locate a store brand). Wash and then dry each area of the body separately. Apply unscented lotion to protect the fragility of elderly skin.
As an RN, I use bath wipes and no-rinse shampoo to bathe those who can not leave the bed. Both are available in local pharmacies, Walmart, Target and online.
