My dad is a vet. and battling cancer at age 69. I was wondering the easiest and cheapest way to get a stairlift installed in his home. He’s weak and has fallen main times. But he refuses to move or go into hospice. So please if anyone has any answers please let me know!!

Does he really need to get upstairs? As long as there is a bathroom he can use on the main floor it would be cheaper to convert another main floor room into his bedroom, but I know that isn't possible in every home.

Vetdad, before getting a stairlift installed in the home, see if there is some place where Dad can test drive one to see if he likes it first. Would hate to see you go through all the effort of ordering one, having it installed, only to find that Dad refuses to use it.

Vetdad, I took Dad to sister's to try hers, and it terrified him, so I put him in my dining room during his time in my home. But the VA would have covered it if we had decided to put one in. They put my sister's in too, as her husband was a vet.

My mother is dying of lung cancer. She used the upstairs for 3 months and we were able to rent a stair lift. It cost $400 down and $70 a month. That money could be used to purchase Stair Lift if we wanted. The steroids they offered or two levels when was 1800 and the other was 2200. We are returning stairlifts today after 3 months because my mom is downstairs for good now
